No problem, because you can make amazing tasting coffee at home with only a few simple tools! Today we will explain the first of three simple methods to make coffee at home without having to buy an expensive machine.
Pour over & filter coffee
Pour over coffee or just pour over is getting more and more popular because its simple and it works great for light to medium roasted, high-quality coffees. With this method, you can really taste all the different flavors that exist in the coffee beans without much of the bitter or sour notes that you can get with for example espresso.
What you need
Delicious freshly roasted coffee from Bonchi Boneiru
A kitchen scale to measure the coffee and water
A mug, cup, glass or pot to make your coffee in
A kettle, water boiler or pan, something to boil your water in
A filter holder
A paper filter
Water
How to make it
Determine how much coffee you want to brew. We recommend using 60 grams of ground coffee per 1 liter of water. So, if you want to brew 300ml (a big mug) of coffee, you’ll need to use 18 grams of ground coffee.
Grind your coffee medium fine. If you don’t have a coffee grinder, no problem. Ask us to grind your coffee for pour over/filter.
Fold the paper filter open and place it in the filter holder, put your ground coffee in the filter
Pour some water on the filter to make it wet, this will prevent paper flavors in your coffee
Boil your water
Place your mug/cup/glass/pot on the kitchen scale and place your filter holder with paper filter in it on top
Make sure your kitchen scale is on zero
When your water is boiling, take it off the heat and ways for a few seconds before you slowly pour it over the coffee in the filter
Only pour a small amount of water over the coffee to make it wet and wait 30-45 seconds
Now, pour the rest of your hot water over the coffee. Use the kitchen scale to measure the amount of water you are adding
Enjoy your coffee!
*If you think that your coffee is not strong enough, you should try to use a little bit more coffee ground (so maybe 65 grams of coffee per 1 liter of water).
**The paper filters with the wet coffee ground in it can be used as compost for your garden, your plants will love it!
