Our Story

In 2020, we came to Bonaire to escape from the rat race and to start over. Like many others before us, we fell in love with the island and with the sometimes shy but always friendly Bonairians. After two years of being a freelance business analyst, I decided that I wanted to create something real, something that could contribute to the community, something that would strive to be better for our planet every day.

My love for coffee was the inspiration for starting my own coffee roastery. There is no fresh, high-quality coffee on Bonaire while we are located so close to some of the most popular coffee origins. And so, an idea was born.

Bonchi boneiru gets its green coffee close by, from farmers in middle- and south America. this reduces the emissions from shipping by 92% compared to supermarket coffee.

Normally, the green beans are shipped from South America and Africa to Europe to be roasted, grounded, packed and transported to Bonaire. Therefore, our coffee is not only fresher but also better for our planet.

Our future plans.

Our suppliers help the coffee farmers and their communities with various projects. For instance, by buying the La Morena coffee that we sell you are helping women in Guatemala to become independent and fights gender inequality.

We would like to do the same thing but for our community on Bonaire. You might not expect it because Bonairians are very proud, but unfortunately, there is still a lot of poverty and inequality on the island.

We already have a lot of ideas for sponsorships, co-creations and education and we hope that we can soon share our first community project with you.
